SOUTHAMPTON UNIVERSITY AT MILL END
Every April, first-year biology students from Southampton University enjoy a field trip on the UTFA water below Mill End. An Environment Agency team, led by Dave Hoskin, demonstrates electro fishing, fish grading and kick samples for invertebrates.

DEPARTED FRIENDS OF THE UTFA
In recent years the UTFA has lost two great friends and supporters with the deaths of John Getliff and Roddy Rae. Both served for many years on the committee and then as honorary secretary. John is commemorated by a seat on the bank at Upperton Weir Pool, where he awaited the arrival of darkness before fishing for sea trout on countless occasions. And a plaque remembering Roddy looks down on the salmon pot that carries his name.
